Q. – While there is “I’ve learned”, this goes on.
Emre – What can we say even if The Prophet Mohammed had been said “I couldn’t know”. How can a knower say “I know”? The greatest perfection for the one is to look down on himself/herself from everyone. We only can learn something from such people. They are just like a mother. Does mother demand a return, thanks or price from her child? The child is sultan, mother is servant.
Q. – Look, it’s very nice… Listen to the one who doesn’t demand something. What if he/she doesn’t listen?
Emre – So what, he/she may prefer not to listen…
Q. –Aren’t you sorry for this?
Emre – No; The Prophet Mohammed had cut the hand of the thief and put it in the hot oil. Did he feel sorrow for the thief? Because this hand would damage many people. One of the names of God is Glory (Jalal) , the other is Harsh Punisher…If they didn’t beat the head of the oil-lamp lighter, then Caaba would stay in darkness. Why do you think the government is hanging some people? When a microbe enters into the body, it destroys everything. If we don’t give an injection, that body dies. Everybody has their own will; they are free to obey or not. In Koran God’s command “don’t do” is because of His mercy. If they do despite of this command, He doesn’t interfere in that; because each mortal has his/her own will which is given by Him.
Q. – Why we tolerate some thieves despite of our being well aware?
Emre – We don’t tolerate if we see by means of God’s eye.
Q. – So, isn’t it possible to tell about this state?
Emre – No, if it were possible, The Prophet Mohammed would show Abu Jahl the right way. Because he loved him so much.
Why are you dealing with knowing someone’s heart? Even The Prophet Mohammed had said “show me the reality of matter”. Those desires lead the people to profanity and insanity.
In old times there had been someone who is trying to teach his disciples. One of them who is ambitious asks his guide : “You said I know everything when I entered the state of ecstasy, is it true?” He says “my son, forget about those things, they have no use for you.” The disciple says: “No, I don’t want to give up.” The guide asks “what do you want?” He says “I want to learn the language of any creature.” The guide says “don’t demand, it hurts you”. He says “no I want to know in any case.” The guide says “ok, which one do you want to know? “ He says “the language of dogs.” The guide says “ok, may you know!” Then man comes to home that night and becomes aware that his dog and the neighbor’s are talking to each other. The neighbor’s dog says to his dog “I’m hungry; there is nothing to eat”. His dog says: “don’t worry, tomorrow the horse of my master will die, then we can eat its carrion.” The man thinks that he has right to learn the language of dogs; otherwise the horse would die. The the next day he sells the horse. At night, dogs again talk to each other: “Hav hav” “ What’s the matter?” “You, liar…You said that the horse of your master would die. “ It says “my master had just learned our language and understood what we spoke then sold his horse. But tomorrow his buffalo will die. Then we can eat its carrion.” The next day, man sells his buffalo too. At night the other dog again reproaches saying “today again you are liar. “ The man’s dog says “ it’s ok today. Tomorrow our master will die. They will cook with full of boilers; then we can eat their leftovers.“ The next day man runs to his guide saying: “My master, that’s the state, please save me…” He says “no, I don’t want to interfere. Because you’ve interfered the job of God; now what the dogs said will be realized.” The man dies of course.
Those desires are the load, trouble of our ego. If they empty, our heart becomes healthy. God demands from us having a healthy (good) heart, instead of knowing the hearts of others.

Emre – In order to be healthy, it’s necessary to have nothing in mind. It’s needed not being in trust neither with good, nor property even praying. While Moses going to the Tour Mountain, a man said to him: “You Moses, when you talk to God, ask him my state; I’m praying since forty years. I think I’ve deserved the heaven.” When Moses asked, God says “he is the one most suitable for the hell among my creatures” When Moses tell this, the man who is proud of his praying starts to beat his chest. After a few days, he begins to play with full of joy. Moses asks “what’s the reason of your joy?” The man says “He also said “my creature”for me, He had accepted my obedience; so that’s enough for me. It doesn’t matter either He throw me to the hell or mountains or whatever He does…” When Moses goes to the mountain, tells this state of man to God. God says if he is proud of being my servant, he is the most favorite servant of mine.
Father Şevket – Lover! This poor man wants to deal with a point: Where is heaven?
Emre – I myself won’t say anything, let me read a stave of Niyazi Mısri’s poem; do you listen? He says:
Bugünkü cenneti irfâna dâhil olsalar uşşak,
Yarınki vâdolan Hûrî veyâ Gılmânı neylerler…
If they could attend the heaven of this time,
They ignore the promised houries and ghulams of future.
Q. – If I say, it’s in me, what would you say?
Emre – I know which attribute of God is manifested from someone who is saying this. As soon as he says “it’s in me, I move away”
Q. – There are such ignorant people.
Emre – We think that it’s because of his ignorance.
Q. – What if he proves?
Emre – God curses them. Is devil Creator or creature?
Q. – According to me, devil isn’t malefic.
Emre – So, you haven’t listened to the command of God. How devil couldn’t be malefic?
Q. – I know myself as devil.
Emre – We are also saying this… Let me tell a story again?
Q. – If you aren’t tired…
Emre – I don’t tire, I proud.
We had a great guide. His style of education was much abstinence. We are educated in this way. I’ve died with his sword; for this reason, I’m not the sayer; he is the one saying through my tongue, my dead self. It’s his aliveness.
Someday again he came from Tarsus and collected us around him; he was talking in a good way. He always used to mention about death. He had said “ there is no any salvation other than death.” He didn’t explain it. While we were listening, one of the friends stood up to say something; but our guide went on. After a while, he asked to that friend: “what’s the matter?” He said “you are talking about death continuously; ok, kill me; otherwise I’ll kill you.” Our guide looked at his face so hardly, then he fell down. Then he stood up and went back to his seat. There were silence for half an hour. Then our guide asked him: “how are you, are you ok?” Thenhe told a story:
Once there had been a priest. The sick ones had been carried to him. But all of the sick people who is prayed by him had been died. When the priest had come near to the patient, he was demanding to stay alone. Some day, a few people had talked to each other: “let’s one of us becomes sick, lays on a bed and we call the priest to see what will he do?” Then someone lays on a bed being as a fake sick. They call the priest. He comes, enters to the patient’s room, locks the door behind. He looks at the patient, he sees that his eyes are lively. In an unaware moment of patient, he choked him acting as if praying. He begins to tighten his throat with his full power. The man who pretends to be patient can’t say anything; after a short flounder, he dies.
It seems that, the priest, by means of throttling the patients, makes to die easy for them in order not to deal with them so much. This time the eyes of man were so lively he throttles with his full power. The man is young and strong, so he struggles much. The priest throttles man but he also becomes all sweaty. When he comes back to the outside, the owners of the patient ask: “how did you find our patient? “ He says “God’s command is realized but don’t call me again for the cases just like this type of immature dead.”
When the guide has put the sword onto our throat, it’s needed not to reject.
Muhiddinî Arabî also had been saying the truth to his disciple for ages but he couldn’t make him heard. When this man was passing through the bazaar, a pumpkin seller was shouting that “here remained just one” in order to sell the last pumpkin. When the disciple had heard this, with the pleasure and ecstasy of the understanding the truth, had fallen down instantly and passed out. The people there, were knowing him as a disciple of Muhiddinî Arabî. So they call him. Muhiddîn comes and sobers him up. When the pumpkin seller says again “here remained just one”, the managain passes out. Muhiddîn is aware that he passes out because of the ecstasy which is the result of pleasure of this word. He says to his disciple “I’ve been saying this to you for ages, could you just able to hear it from this pumpkin seller? “
Q.- So, couldn’t you favor before the right time?
Emre – He can’t.
Q. – So, we need to accept our right.
Emre – Wisdom and knowledge, knowledge and praying are far from each other as long as a century. But love passes this distance in just a step. This way is also available but the life of a mortal is not enough. One of the necessities is knowledge, the other is loyalty and ambition. We can’t describe the beyond.
Q. – What if someone has all of them and wants different things.
Emre – He/she keeps on to want. I mean he/she wanders. But it’s necessary to leave the manifestation of God in flowers, dogs. In order to see the source of that light, it’s needed to look at the upside raising our head.
Q. – Do you let me suicide?
Emre – No, never.
Q. – Isn’t there any favor before three, five days?
Emre – Favor is deception. God and the one who obeys God doesn’t know favor and deception.
Q. – He doesn’t accept desire , isn’t He?
Emre – He doesn’t.
Q. – So, what shall it be?
Emre – Surrender. After surrendering, this case is also ended simultaneously. Anyway there is nothing as time, duration. There is nothing other than a “forever moment”. This state, this power can only be given by God, not you, not me. But He gives through some of His mortals.
Q. – What if the ones who are close to God request? What if we request ? Doesn’t He listen to His mortals? I think He listens. If He doesn’t give the desire, that means I’m not close to Him.
Emre – If you were close to God, no desire would left.
Q. – So, you mean it’s not dispelling the trouble.
Emre – How can one or thing be a trouble for God?
Q. – We are wandering as “take this soul” but He doesn’t deal with it.
Emre – We need to give it, even with the way of wisdom and love. He takes glibly if He thinks that we deserve.
Q. – Could we understand the cycles which are read by this gentleman?
Emre – Yes, he may read it again. For the sake of your beauty, I know nothing about saying the revelations. God bless Mr.Şevket Kutkan, he reads those revelations after then, that time I also profit by it. I can’t modify even just a word in them. But if Mr. Şevket or other friend say that “this part is missing, could you please complete” then I bond to the My …just like a pipe. If He says, I transfer the words; otherwise I can’t. May Mr. Şevket read that revelation again:
Ne kadar methetsek, az;
(Hakîkat) hiç pas tutmaz;
Bu (Gönül Ağacı)nda,
Her kuş yuva yapamaz.
Birçoğu konar, kaçar,
Ayağı yanar, nâçâr,
Binde birisi yapar
Seyredin, çok hikmet var.
(Sabır) gerek evvelâ,
Yardım eylesin Mevlâ:
Sabırı çok olan kuş,

Etmek lâzım (tenezzül):
Her kuşta hiç olmaz bu,

Öğrenmek isteyenler,

Dördüncüsüdür: (azim),
Bunlar sırayla lâzım.
Yârabbî, bende görsem…
Budur benim murâzım.
Beşincisi: (Aşk) gerek,
Aşk gelse, eder ipek.
Aşka bürünenlere,
Semâyı açar felek.
Altıncısıdır (Yokluk),
Daha târif etsem, çok…
(Yokluk)tan sonra açar,
(Dilber) yüzünden (Ufuk).*
Yedincisi çok gizli,
Kimsenin dönmez dili;
(Emre)ye devirlerde,
Geçti, etti tecellî.
The more we praise, the less;
The truth in any way rusts;
On this tree of loving mind,
Can not each bird nests.
Many of them settle, run away,
Their foot burns, so inevitable,
One in thousand accomplishes,
Watch, the wisdom is so high.
The first obligation is patience,
May you have God’s assistance,
The bird which is so patient,
May remain inside of nest.
The second one is endurance,
The state of deigning is must,
Not each bird has this state,
Nightingale is the one grieves.
Knowledge comes then as third,
Learner becomes safe and sound,
Who intend to learn, knows,
Him/her self as an orphan in world.
The fourth one is ambition,
They must be passed in turn,
My God, I also wish to see;
This is my whole intention.
Love is the fifth obligation,
If love arrives, turns to silken,
To the ones wrapping in love,
Destiny opens the heaven.
Nonbeingness is the sixth one,
There is much more definition,
After the nonbeingness, “Belle’s face”
Will be unveiled from Horizon.
The seventh one is mystery,
No one could able to specify,
For Emre, along such periods;
It happened, became destiny.

Q. – If we didn’t provide heaven and hell here, there is nothing. You are the one who is representing God; you are the attribute of Him. Lets give up hiding and we talk to each other without glove.
How such a beautiful definition has this revelation. But our bottom of head has a hole…Did you tire?
Emre – No. Actually, I am tired… I felt my tiredness when you make me aware of myself. But The One who says, is not tired.

EMRE’s Epigrams, Aphorisms:
*Emre – The one who doesn’t know and make where he/she will go, becomes stranger in there.
*Emre – Instead of faith healing, we need to absorb Koran by means of the mouth of our mind and idea. The real Koran is alive: It’s needed being absorbed by Him.
*Emre – Conservatism has also a use. It separates the religion and irreligion. But it moves away after the regulation. Conservatism is a front between religion and communism, it defends the religion. Without the conservation, it was hard. These are all from God. Those actions are not in someone’s hand.
*Q. – How do you think about the state of world?
*Emre – It’s so beautiful! Everything is in the proper place. Doer does it very well.
*Emre – Doesn’t one gets angry if you wake him up? He does. The anger of the conservatives against the sufis is similar to that. Sufis know this and don’t get angry for the sleepwalkers who cursed them.
*Q. – Thanks God, sickness is passed!
*Emre – Sickness didn’t pass; we passed over there.
*Emre – Crying (ağlamak) and poisoning (ağılamak) are similar to each other. Actually, the poison of the self is divine crying.

Which one is more useful moon or sun?
One day it’s been asked to Hodja:
—Which one is more useful, sun or moon? He replies instantly without thinking.
—Moon is more useful.
—Why is it so, my Hodja?
—You know, sun rises during the day. But moon shines the environment at night. Of course moon is better.
Explanation:
This joke can be explained by another joke:
At a time, there was a Perfect with a lot of students around him. Some day he went to the seaside with one of his students who has an ability to comprehend the truth. Said to him:
-My son, now we will go to Üsküdar by walking on the sea. In order to walk on the sea, I will always say “God” and you will say my name “Ahmet, Ahmet.” Ok?
– Yes, sir.
—Let’s hold my tail of the cloak and enter the sea.
The disciple holds his master’s the tail of gloak and begins to say “Ahmet, Ahmet” and his master says “God, God”, then they start to glide across the sea.
Sometime the disciple says to himself that: “Why don’t I say God, instead of Ahmet ?” Then he starts to sink. The master is actually aware the condition and he wants to teach the truth to the disciple. So he says to the disciple who is in a rush because of his state:
-What happened my son? Then he tells his failure. Master says:
-My son, you aren’t in a level to say “God”. For this reason, you need to say my name for now; otherwise you’ll sink.
The disciple again begins to say the name of his master and they arrive Üsküdar .
